About the course

This technology law and intellectual property course is one of a kind in India, aiming to address various upcoming areas at the intersection of law, technology and policy, including the complex landscape of security requirements. privacy, intellectual property laws, data protection, gray regulations. non-regulated areas (the United States vis-à-vis India) and the advantages and disadvantages that come with it. The primary objective of the course is to familiarize participants with the field application of academic learnings and familiarize themselves with the real-life scenario of a legal practitioner, particularly in an ever-evolving field that will undergo rapid changes over time. over the next 20 years. It aims for students to be at the helm of this coming transformation by relaying the basics as well as enabling future lawyers to understand the consequences of using AI and to understand the ethical and conscientious interaction with artificial intelligence. It is ideal for a law student wishing to explore the nuances of technology law and build a career as a technology lawyer.

The resource person

Ms. Chaani Srivastava, a GNLU Alumnus (Lot 2005-2010) is an experienced Intellectual Property Lawyer at LOCS Online with a demonstrated track record of working in the law practice industry in India as well as the United States . She has a diverse theoretical and practical experience in the field of law, holding an LLM in law and technology from the University of California at Berkeley.

Course pedagogy

This course will follow a discussion-based style that will emphasize practical and theoretical academic aspects complemented by real-life experiences. It will encourage a participatory and student-centred approach, involving a minimum of work outside of class. The total duration of the course is 20 hours made up of 10 sessions. The course will be followed by an evaluation in the form of a simple MCQ quiz, at the end of which a certificate would be issued subject to the attendance mandate at 80%. The mode of conduct of the course is virtual see CiscoWebex.
