A New Browser for Web Search

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Like most people, we browse the Internet primarily with the Google Chrome app on our phone and iPad.

It’s the most popular browser in the world, but sometimes we wonder “is there anything else I’d like better?”

Firefox is a solid choice for a browser app. PC users may like the Edge browser and many iPhone users like Safari. There is another browser option that is perfect for those times when we need to focus on a project or research.

This is Firefox Focus for iPhone, iPad and Android devices. The idea is simply to give you less clutter when browsing the web and to hide your tracks from search engines and advertisers.

Rather than having a bunch of tabs open on Chrome or another browser, Firefox Focus only has one. We’ve found that prevents us from quickly opening a tab where LinkedIn is loaded, or that ESPN tab that stays at the top of my browser so we can check baseball scores.

If we need a single task, Firefox Focus keeps us on track. Since there is only one tab open at a time, our browser is also faster.

Another reason to use Firefox Focus is its privacy features. None of our web activities are shared or tracked by advertisers. Everything we do, wherever we go online, is protected. It also speeds up the browser because it does not constantly send information to third parties.

When we’ve finished a project or are just ready to log off, a trash can icon deletes all of our web history. You don’t have to go to settings and find the option like you would on Chrome or another browser. The Clear History button is right on the screen.

Since it blocks ads on websites, web pages load beautifully. This is especially noticed when using the app on an iPad or tablet. Since there are no ads, when we loaded “Rolling Stone” we only saw images of articles available to read.

You can still use Google, Safari, or DuckDuckGo as your search engine, and you can select the default one you want.

Firefox Focus is a free web browsing application. If you are browsing on a computer, you will need to use the Firefox browser as there is no Firefox Focus for PC.
